Silence is the best of all music. But I totally agree that folk music is not meant for a stage, separation or sepulchral appreciation by a suited and booted audience. As a restaurateur, my experience of most classical musicians is a general lack of interest in food and wine and a disinclination to spend more than the bare minimum on it. An exception was Oliver Knussen, a Celt (which might make the difference) who ate heartily — always extra mushrooms with his steak and kidney pie — but whose early death was probably because of that enthusiasm .
